Up until the time our son was born in 2005, I kept pretty up-to-date on Web tech. It was clear even then that the Internet was the future. Then a funny thing happened after Luke was born. I fell way behind on all the latest website-building tools as my focus shifted from hunter/gatherer to caring nurturer.
Well, now it’s 2011, our son is growing up to be a fine young man, my full-time newspaper job just got cut to part time and I find myself crazy motivated to play catch-up with all the web-tech I’ve ignored for the last five years.
Unfortunately, most of my clients from 2001—2005 have since gone belly-up, so I can’t use their sites for self-promotion. I can’t even put them up on a back page because Google finds everything. So, I’m basically starting from scratch.
This site here represents my second effort with WordPress, and not counting content preparation, was done in a three-day weekend. I am certain I will continue to fiddle with it forever, but for now, I’m satisfied enough with it to unleash it upon the world.
The Sample Newspaper Site, below, is another recent creation. It took me a little longer, but then, it was my first WordPress effort.
Following are links to the couple live sites I currently maintain, as well as a spec site that shoulda sold, but didn’t.
ClizBiz Communications • Senior Spectrum • Sample Newspaper Site • Dental Spec Site
Below is a gallery of static screenshots of several of my favorite defunct sites. I wish I could have kept all the animated gifs and Flash bits interactive for purposes of self-promotion, but if I did, Google would find them and my former clients would be righteously aggrieved with me.
